EXTRA CHORUS

The Metropolitan Opera Extra Chorus is a pool of highly skilled professional singers who supplement the Regular Chorus for productions that require a larger or more stylistically specific ensemble. While the Regular Chorus serves as the full-time body, Extra Choristers are hired on a contract basis for particular operas throughout the season. Participation in the Extra Chorus offers an additional avenue of engagement for working singers, with members expected to be versatile and adaptable across a wide range of operatic repertoire.
