EMMA NOSSEM
MEZZO
Emma Nossem (contralto) is a current member of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus. Recently, she was a winner of the Laffont Competition’s Indiana District. In 2024, Emma was an Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera. In 2023, Nossem participated in the Vann Vocal Institute program, earning 2nd place in its 15th Annual Award Competition. She also placed 2nd in Akron’s Tuesday Musical Competition, and participated in the Summer Art Song Festival at CIM. Nossem completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Ball State University where she received the inaugural Ewart Opera Performance Scholarship.
She then completed her Artist Diploma and Master of Music degrees at CIM, earning the Max Berman Prize in Voice, Elly Ameling Art Song Award, Ellen B. Thomas Vocal Scholarship, and Helen Curtis Webster Award. Her complete and partial roles include Principessa (Suor Angelica), Madame de la Haltière (Cendrillon), Amneris (Aida), Carmen (Carmen), Dalila (Samson et Dalila), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera), Ortrud (Lohengrin), Marquise of Bergenfield (La Fille du Régiment), Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Contralto (The Blind world premiere), Maman (L’enfant et les sortilèges), and more.
